Personal CFO in The Woodlands, TX | Catalano Financial

If you want a financial advisor who stays in your corner year after year, coordinating the moving parts of your financial life the way a CFO runs a company’s finances, that is the Strategic Wealth Partnership at Catalano Financial in The Woodlands, Texas. It is built for the financial delegator: someone who has built meaningful wealth, values professional advice, and would rather have one trusted advisor keep the whole picture organized than manage every piece alone. I’m Peter Catalano, and this is the most hands-on, ongoing relationship my practice offers.

Financial professionals reviewing reports and coordinating financial planning decisions

What does a personal CFO relationship with Catalano Financial include?

A personal CFO relationship here means one advisor coordinating your entire financial life on an ongoing basis, not handing you a binder and sending you off. The Strategic Wealth Partnership integrates ongoing comprehensive financial planning, portfolio management when you select it, retirement income planning, tax planning coordination, estate and beneficiary coordination, risk and insurance reviews, and business planning if you own a company.

A big part of the value is coordination. Many of the people I work with have accumulated 401(k)s, IRAs, brokerage accounts, old annuities, and insurance policies from different employers, advisors, and stages of life. My job is to bring those pieces into one coordinated strategy and keep them working together, including regular coordination with your CPA, your attorney, and any other professionals already on your team.

How do ongoing reviews and life changes actually work?

An ongoing financial advisory relationship is about more than scheduled meetings. It’s about having a trusted advisor who understands your financial picture and remains involved as your circumstances evolve.

For Strategic Wealth Partnership clients, our relationship includes three scheduled planning and strategy meetings each year. These meetings provide opportunities to review your financial progress, revisit priorities, evaluate investment strategies, and address changes in your personal or financial circumstances.

Beyond these scheduled meetings, I believe regular personal communication is essential to understanding my clients’ changing circumstances and helping them anticipate important financial decisions.

But life doesn’t always follow a meeting schedule. Retirement decisions, business transitions, family matters, and unexpected opportunities can arise throughout the year. When they do, I’m available to help you evaluate your options, coordinate with other professionals when appropriate, and make informed decisions.

Other investment management and financial planning engagements include reviews and communication appropriate to the services provided.

Not everyone needs an ongoing Strategic Wealth Partnership. For those seeking a comprehensive financial plan without an ongoing advisory commitment, Catalano Financial offers Comprehensive Financial Planning through a structured five-phase process: Discovery, Analysis, Financial Plan Development, Financial Plan Presentation, and Implementation Coordination. The timeline depends on the complexity of your circumstances and the availability of the information needed.

Why I Believe in Staying in Touch Before There’s a Problem

One thing I’ve learned over more than three decades in financial services is that clients don’t always think to call their financial advisor before making an important decision.

Sometimes I hear about a business transaction, a real estate purchase, a retirement decision, or a family financial matter after it’s already happened. That’s when we’re left evaluating the consequences rather than exploring the opportunities that might have existed beforehand.

It’s one reason I place such a high priority on staying in touch with my clients.

I believe an advisor should do more than wait for the phone to ring. I make an effort to reach out, ask questions, understand what’s changing in my clients’ lives, and encourage conversations before major financial decisions are finalized.

Not every conversation needs to be about investments. Sometimes a simple phone call reveals a concern, an opportunity, or an upcoming decision that deserves attention.

My goal is to help clients make informed decisions before problems arise—not simply help them address the consequences afterward.

That’s what an ongoing financial relationship means to me.

What does an ongoing financial partnership cost?

The Strategic Wealth Partnership generally begins at $15,000 per year, set by the scope of responsibility I accept and the complexity of your financial life. Here is how the main engagements price out.

Service

Fee

The Financial Roadmap (standalone starting point)

$500 per household

Comprehensive Financial Planning

$6,000 per household

Strategic Portfolio Management

1.25% on the first $1,000,000; 0.80% from $1,000,001 to $5,000,000; 0.50% above $5,000,000

Strategic Wealth Partnership (ongoing personal CFO relationship)

Generally begins at $15,000 per year

A couple of specifics worth knowing. If you start with the $500 Financial Roadmap and engage Comprehensive Financial Planning within six months, the full $500 is credited toward that fee. For portfolio management, a $1,000,000 household works out to about $12,500 a year, roughly $1,042 a month before market changes. Strategic Portfolio Management generally requires a $500,000 relationship minimum, though I may negotiate or waive that based on your situation.

Planning fees can be paid directly by you. Investment management fees accrue daily, are billed monthly in arrears, and are generally deducted from your managed accounts with your written authorization. Strategic Wealth Partnership fees are billed quarterly in advance. If I recommend a life insurance policy or an annuity and you choose to buy it through my agency, the insurance company may pay a commission, which is separate from and not credited against advisory fees. Investment results are not guaranteed; what I provide is advice and recommendations based on your individual circumstances, goals, and plan.

Why choose Catalano Financial for a long-term partnership?

I have worked in financial services since 1992 and hold the CLU and ChFC designations, and Catalano Financial is a Registered Investment Adviser in Texas. When I provide investment advisory services, I act as a fiduciary, which means my recommendations are held to your best interest. The firm was founded in 2012 and registered as an investment adviser in 2018, and I am the sole owner, so the person you talk to is the person responsible for your plan.

Being a smaller, independent practice is the point for the kind of client I serve. You are not routed through a call center or reassigned when someone leaves.

From My Experience: When Financial Planning Becomes Personal

Over more than three decades in financial services, I’ve learned that some of the most important decisions we face aren’t strictly financial. I once helped a client navigate a complicated family estate situation involving disputed trust decisions, the sale of valuable real estate shortly before a family member’s passing, and significant tax consequences. I participated in many of the conversations involving the family’s legal and tax professionals, helping my client understand the financial implications, identify important questions, and evaluate her options.

But our conversations weren’t always about maximizing the dollars.

Sometimes I encouraged her to consider what was right for her family, even when that wasn’t necessarily the most financially advantageous choice. The estate matters were eventually resolved, and our advisory relationship continued. Today, I help manage investments and provide ongoing financial guidance for multiple generations of the family. That experience reinforced something I’ve believed throughout my career: financial planning isn’t simply about managing assets. It’s about helping people navigate life’s most important decisions.

It’s not about the money. It’s the emotion behind the money.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a one-time financial plan and the ongoing partnership?

A one-time plan, like the $500 Financial Roadmap or $6,000 Comprehensive Financial Planning, delivers written analysis and recommendations within about 30 days, and some clients implement those on their own. The Strategic Wealth Partnership is the ongoing version: regular Strategy Meetings, access throughout the year, and proactive advice as your circumstances and the economy change. If you want someone staying involved through life changes rather than a document you file away, the partnership is the right fit.

How much does the ongoing personal CFO partnership cost?

The Strategic Wealth Partnership generally begins at $15,000 per year, billed quarterly in advance, and the exact figure depends on the scope and complexity of your situation. If you add Strategic Portfolio Management, those asset-based fees are separate and run 1.25% on the first $1,000,000, stepping down at higher asset levels. Insurance commissions, when they apply, come from the insurance company and are not counted against your advisory fees.

Do I have to move all my investments to you to work this way?

No. You can engage the ongoing partnership for planning and coordination even where I am not managing all of your assets, though advice on substantial held-away assets may call for a separate arrangement that we document in writing. For accounts I do manage, your money stays with a qualified custodian in accounts in your name, and I never take possession of your funds beyond deducting the advisory fee you authorize.

Where do you serve financial delegators?

I work from The Woodlands, Texas, and primarily serve clients in The Woodlands, greater Houston, and across the state, plus clients in other locations where I am permitted to do so. I am insurance licensed in Texas, Colorado, California, and Missouri. Meetings can happen in person at the Evergreen Circle office or remotely.

What qualifications does my advisor have?

I hold the CLU and ChFC designations, have worked in financial services since 1992, and operate Catalano Financial as a Registered Investment Adviser in Texas, acting as a fiduciary on advisory work. You can reach me directly at 832-696-0990 or book a discovery call by clicking here.
